OK so I have been rubbish withe the blog over the last couple of months so over the next couple of days I am going to try and rapidly catch up.
The remainder of my parents
visit went very fast. Firstly on return from the safari my Mum finally gave
into pain and agreed to go to hospital to get the ankle she injured in a
motorbike taxi crash the week before looked at. 71 and had her first ride on a
motorbike. 3rd trip unfortunately took a light spill and injured her
ankle. An xray later and we discovered she had two broken bones – hardcore Mum
had been walking on that for a week – not wanting to miss the safari J. Thika General Hospital
took great care of us and I guess they do not get many white people as we did
get a little special treatment. I do not normally agree with that as why should
we get preferential treatment but it was my Mum in pain. A big thank you to
Margaret for guiding us through the maze of corridors and many offices, rubber
stamps and other processes that we needed to go through.
Back to Kandara Orphanage and lots of concerned looks and
good wishes from the little ones.
20th Off to Lake Naivasha for a chill out for a
couple of days by the lake at Camp Carnelley’s and a visit to the Elsa Museum (Joy
Adamson’s former home) great afternoon tea on the lawn etc.
Then back to
Nairobi 23rd August for 24 hours being spoilt by Fred and Rachel at
Grace House Hotel especially when the saw Mum’s foot!!
Early flight for Mum and Dad – Mum got upgraded to business
class because of her foot but Dad did not which was a shame but Mum really
appreciated the extra space. Luckily I did not need the tissues as they
disappeared into the airport. It was a great 3 weeks and they left with many
new friends and a lot of new experiences to talk about – some they could never
have expected – Tarantula, motorbike crash, charged by an elephant, etc.
